Gerald & Marie Walter – Whitefield
Gerald gave us a call in 2012 regarding a porch he was considering at the front of his house in Whitefield, North Manchester. He had plans already drawn up so it was just a case of paying him a visit and getting a costing on the job. It wasnt actually a straight forward porch build because Gerald wanted to incorporate a downstairs WC just to the left and behind the front door. This meant we had to install new ground drains to take the soil to the main drains. Lovely work in September! This happened to be a blessing in disguise because once we had dug the tench for the new drains we exposed the existing pot drain and discovered it was badly damaged so this was replaced at the same time. The existing front supporting brick arch was to be removed so a steel was required to support the outer skin. Once all the drains and structural supports were in place it was simply a case of bricking up and popping the roof. A composite door was chosen by Gerald which was a really good quality Rok door and a pleasure to install. Internal plumbing was extended to the front of the house under the floor boards to supply the sink and toilet. WC goods were installed and a stud partition created to seperate it from the hallway. Ross prepared the plasterboards and then cracked on with what he does best – plastering!
